The DKos community is providing extraordinary coverage of the California Fires.  What makes this site different from the typical media bubbleheads is that community members are giving real-time information regarding evacuations and fire locations.

Many of you are directly affected, many have family in danger, and most of us just hope and pray for the safety of our fellow citizens.

I have been a smoker for over 30 years, 2 packs a day.  My mother died of long cancer 8 years ago. Her brother died of lung cancer 3 years ago.  I am a ticking time bomb.

Below is a bit of my smoking history and how I am successfully quitting after trying everything.

PatsBard wrote a great diary last month about Chantix, the new help you quit smoking drug  It's a great background for first-time quitters who are afraid to quit and smoker's who have just given up because they can't seem to stay quit. The comments in her diary offer some great suggestions.

I just received an e-mail announcing the comeback of BuyBlue.org.  BuyBlue is a website that vets companies based on the company's campaign contributions.  Rankings on people, planet and profit are part of the equation in determining how 'blue' a company is.

Live Blogs for the Senate session on the Defense Appropriations amendment may take up space on the Rec List this afternoon/evening.

We were unable to get the Live Blog Parent/Child system going today so we're back to individual diarists posting Live Blog diaries, reommending the current diary and then unrecommending as they head to the next Live Blog diary.  This may allow multiple Live Blog diaries to be on the Rec List at the same time.

Sara Taylor is scheduled to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday July 11 at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

To make this as orderly as possible we'd like to, once again, ask for volunteers today so there isn't a mad scramble on Wednesday. I think the Monica Goodling hearing will go for about 20 diaries provided we put up new diaries at the 250 comment point  That's the minimum number of volunteers we're looking for. I'll update this diary as volunteers come on board.
