Glenn Murphy Jr. was arrested after authorities said he performed oral sex on a sleeping man following a July 28 party at a home in Jeffersonville. The plea agreement calls for a six-year sentence, with four years suspended.
Murphy, who was also chairman of the Young Republican National Federation, resigned from both posts when the allegations were made public in August.
Matthews's contract expires next year, and NBC officials clearly would like to renew it for considerably less than the $5 million a year he is making now.
NYC NOW said it is NOT them, it is NY State NOW. She said they are very concerned about it, and that I should call the National NOW office (202.628.8669).
She also said that they are getting a lot of calls, but are glad that people are calling so NYC NOW can make it clear that this did not come from them.
This came from the New York NOW chapter. Each state chapter of NOW has some autonomy. As a matter of fact, the woman I just spoke with said the NY chapter never showed it to anyone before releasing the statement nationally and that NOW, the national branch, is meeting with them right this minute to discuss the fallout.
The National chapter sounded damned near as upset as I did. Somebody in NY really fucked up and just pissed in their pool, bigtime.
I’m torn. I know that Don Imus is a racist. That much is clear. But, the problem is how we should now punish Al Sharpton for it.
I, like many, am disgusted by Don Imus’ remarks. This type of speech should be met with fierce and swift action. So we must act now, and make sure that Al Sharpton knows that this will not be tolerated. After all, if we let this pass without rebuke, if we don’t make an example of Al Sharpton, how then is Don Imus to learn his lesson?
Anger is whispering to you now, a feather in the back of your mind, an ember in your chest. It is hungry.
Your anger can see its next meal, and it is grand. A horn of plenty with golden roasted ignorance over candied vitriol on a bed of crisp lies. You did not make this feast; it was forced down your throat. They made it. They made you eat it. They are forcing more into your gullet.
Some have fed it to their soul, and they are lost. It has confused their hearts and addled their decency. Their consciences are napping after a perpetual thanksgiving gorge. They belch apathy and exude a sour and ignorant sweat. They are content. Their souls are now too fat to rise from the chair in their endless buffet. Their gluttony has doomed them.
Most have set it aside. Not willing to eat the tainted meat. And, they yelled. They yelled and screamed and wrote and marched about the vulgar sustenance they have been provided. Yet more food comes. What can you do?
Feed it to your Anger. It is hungry. It will burn bright and hot.
Nothing will ever be right. Nothing is exactly as it is supposed to be. No matter how much you push and fight and try, it never works. If nothing ever works, nothing will ever be right, then why try? You become ineffectual, helpless. You become enraged.
The wealthy, the powerful, the very government itself have all become one entity, aligned and organized against working people. They have created a system in which you are forever in debt, and through that debt you are controlled, enslaved. Through the law and the courts anything can be taken from us. We are not free, we live in economic Tyranny, and we must fight.
And that’s what they did, in 1787. They were former soldiers, farmers, working people, and had seen enough. They were the Shays Rebellion.
States must start issuing the new internal passports by May 2008, or else their citizens will not be able to board planes or enter federal courthouses.
