Video4: rhfactor: the VIDEO AGENDA to influence Swing Voters

Fri Aug 31, 2007 at 01:04:55 PM PDT

The big theme in everything I contribute to DailyKos is that we try to allocate more focus on influencing SWING VOTERS -- because they determine election victories - and that's what this site is all about. But swing voters don't hang out here; most aren't on blogs at all. And the primary language of swing-voter influence is video/TV. If we want to push out our smart progressive messages, we need to pierce through the drowning noise of the conglomerate media's 24/7 empty-calorie distractions and distortions. it's pretty simple:  (1) More of us need to use video to deliver and package accessible messages, and (2) these videos need to be published in more mainstream spaces --for instance YouTube .

A new vlog entry on the flip.

NOTHING is more impt than banning that piece-o-sh** FreedomToast from dK

Sat Aug 18, 2007 at 09:22:00 PM PDT

That is all I have to say.

Nothing can be more important than this.

Not Rove.

Not Cheney.

Not Petraeus.

Not Mitt.

We must not tolerate exploitation of the left by hacks.  Please join me in demanding kos refuse to sell advertising to FreedomToast. "It's woooonerful!" -- Helen Thomas.

I'm looking to record videos of a wide range of Kossacksfrom across the country, providing your views on the 'State of the Country" and what needs to happen to reduce and reverse the polarization of thought in America.

Oversight VIDEOS: FEMA Toxic Trailers. YKOS Action Mtg

Fri Jul 20, 2007 at 01:39:45 AM PDT

The arrogance and incompetence of FEMA is astounding. And you know what, I can't help but be pissed off that friggin Holy Joe just jettisoned his entire oversight responsibility -- he's an eternal piece of worthless shit. And thank god Harry Waxman continues to slowly but surely line up all these agency abuses, to ascertain WHY? and HOW?

This first video is poignant. This man is a minsiter as well as a business owner... And so the first 5-minutes or so of his testimony is laced with a lot of "I was blessed by God" and so forth. Skip ahead to 6:15 "remaining" in the timeline. Because as he moves to the substance of his experience with his wife and son in a FEMA trailer with toxic formaldehyde, his quiet dignity is hard to ignore.

O'Reilly is doing damage to America: Seething Anger

Thu Jul 19, 2007 at 06:18:20 AM PDT

(I'm cheating. I swore a might oath that any new diary I might want to write about would be presented here as VIDEO ONLY. You may subtract  points accordingly.)

Yesterday Senator Dodd's campaign responded to Bill O'Reilly's hit piece on YearlyKos/ DailyKos. Bravo! In the comments were many references to Bill's temper. One recalled a radio interview with NPR's Terry Gross where O'Reilly walked out without completing the show.

I was just trying to find audio of that. It is hysterical.

It is hysterical! But it's more than that. Flip with me and read my take. But first, take a listen:

Americans: The biggest crybabies, most dumbed-down spoiled people in the world. Why?

Sun Jul 15, 2007 at 11:32:09 PM PDT

This is a comment I wrote at the end of a sub-thread that began as "Speaking of a confederacy of dunces..." within the diary "Send Liberals to "Gas Chambers."... Astonishing Right-Wing Extremism!". My subthread had little to do with the main content of that diary, but it provoked my own thinking further on how lazy Americans are -- and how that came to be -- that we apparently cannot muster the will and duty to face the corruption in our country and go through the necessary pain to restore the rule of law -- for the benefit of us today, as well as the continuity of the Republic for generations to come.

How much does FREEDOM TOAST pay to adv his crappy stuff every day?

Sun Jul 15, 2007 at 05:33:11 AM PDT

This is something I have wanted to know. Who is this person who pays to have his crap in our faces every single day? Just another war profiteer.

Isn't it wonderful? he's got a special YEARLY KOS marketing ad! I'll bet whatever he's got it's WONDERFUL just like Helen Thomas said probably 25 years ago.

VIDEO DIARY #1. At YKOS? Meet to org. townhall video netwk

Tue Jul 10, 2007 at 08:58:09 AM PDT

Below is my first video diary. It's the only format I'll use going forward.

I'd like to see the blogosphere follow the lead of Marcy Wheeler, Josh Marshall, Jane Hamsher, PTV and Crooks & Liars in using video to communicate to a wider audience -- given the language of mainstream and swingvote America is TV, not blogs. (It's not either/or; we need both.)

Madame Decider's (Pelosi's) Dangerously Flawed Strategy

Mon Jul 02, 2007 at 02:19:30 PM PDT

Mike Stark's diary on late Friday night was seen by some, but not all that many. He and several bloggers had been on a Conference Call with Nancy Pelosi earlier Friday, during which he popped the Impeachment Question. (He's got the audio & transcript)

In essence, the takeaway, in not these exact words, was:

Of course he's committed impeachable acts, and it's worse than you think! But the best way to remedy this is to elect a Dem President.

Let me tell you why I believe Madame Speaker sees the landscape through coke-bottle lenses, and why I believe her strategy is so full of holes it could hurt us in our REAL goal: to stop & reverse the destruction of the American system of government perpetrated by the Bush Administration. Part 1 below deals with the current issue of Impeachment. Further below, Part 2 presents my view of Pelosi's dangerously flawed overall view of the world, and corresponding strategy.

drational: I am both saddened & disgusted it's come to this

Fri Jun 29, 2007 at 01:16:29 PM PDT

And it prompts my own critique of the forces at work here in this entire episode.

I am sorry, and sad (321+ / 0-)

by drational on Fri Jun 29, 2007 at 07:51:29 AM PDT

I have a very different take, on both a macro and micro level -- and the problem, I assure you, is not you. That you have felt a need to apologize so profusely is "off" in my view.

I hope some of you will read this, and discuss it, pro and con.

Can Dean lasso Pelosi/Reid? Benchmark based Democratic Funding

Fri Jun 15, 2007 at 02:14:12 PM PDT

I've been having a one-on-one dialogue with community member DocGonzo, as we continue down a subthread off of John Conyer's diary the other day "White House Subpoenas". The start-point was DocGonzo's comment, way late into the thread, ostensibly addressed to Conyers:

It took Congress 5 weeks to impeach Clinton on bogus charges no one believed. Their House had a partisan majority 1/3 the size Democrats do.

followed by my faux-Conyers comment thanking him. It's Day 3 and Doc has proposed something which I don't know if it's possible: Dean get Pelosi to stop obstructing the will of the People by applying Benchmark-based Funding to her, and Reid, and anyone else who's completely out-of-sync with the American population. Imagine that.

RescueRangers. Their recs should be made part of Menu, like "Rec'd List"

Mon May 21, 2007 at 12:44:52 AM PDT

(UPDATE: I changed the diary title, since it seemed to set the wrong tone for what I was trying to convey. And tweeked the opening below.)

I sure would love to see the Rescue Rangers Recs be part of the right-side menu system so people can access their list of less-widely-seen diaries all day long, vs just at night during the window their posting appears on front page. I believe "Recommended Diaries" hogs too much prime real estate pushing out of view other diaries that have been deemed highly worthy of taking some time to read.

I believe adding their recs into the menu system would improve the usability & functionality of this site, and would be healthier for the mission of the site.

a few TECH QUESTIONS: re Ffox plugins, USB daisychain etc

Tue May 08, 2007 at 03:23:14 PM PDT

Hi -- I'm guessing this is okay to use a diary to ask some tech questions? These involve browsers, plugins, flash video downlaods (.flv), and also external drives and USB ports. These are fairly esoteric and detail oriented, so this thread will probably not be very appealing to many people! :) Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer one or all of these questions.

NYT buys Knight-Ridder's credibility: names new Public Editor

Fri May 04, 2007 at 12:15:18 AM PDT

Well wouldn't you know.  In the wake of Bill Moyers' unflinching report on who dropped the ball and how during runup to Iraq War, the NYT has a huge credibility problem on their hands.

What to do... tap, tap, tap...

Wise underling: "Why not hire a new Editor here from that crackerjack team at Knight-Ridder?"

And that's exactly what any self-respecting worldwide News organization would do. Go to the source of unpolluted news writing and publishing.

US Attorney Firing Cover-up: A New Player
by drational
Wed May 02, 2007 at 05:50:31 AM PDT

Mark this day. I believe we have hit an historic benchmark in America.

drational posted his blog posting earlier today, describing A New Player.

I'm upping the ante: In my view, the "new player" is collective citizen-power, as manifested by the outputs compiled and organized by drational and his volunteer team of ordinary citizens.

Years ago, when Dean was running, Chris Suellentrop wrote what I considered to be a seminal essay:

I think drational's diary represents the Next Big Thing.

How Harry Reid Blows it Time & Again: He's Uneducated In Neuro-Associative Stuff

Sun Apr 22, 2007 at 05:04:22 PM PDT

UPDATE 1: Removed "Science" from the title. It was a term of art, but too many comments railed against even a suggestion that there's any connection to science. Corrected. But I don't have a replacement word. I would use "linguistics" but then I'd go from frying pan to fire.

UPDATE 2: The diary was poorly written, originally a one-on-one comment that I then posted as a diary -- the main point being we our leaders need to get trained in Media Communication. That got obscured by a thruline I used to show from where some of the techniques used by GOP Wurlitzer are derived. My bad. It threw off the discussion that ensued.

UPDATE 3:  The criticism of Harry Reid is not for his accurate statement:
The Iraq War is lost. It's for equivocating afterwards after criticism. That's bad. Stop equivocating and modifying. That's weak.
