For soldiers that's the epitome of a no-win situation. It's nice that there's some sanity at the Pentagon, there's surely non in the WH or the GOP, but damnit where are the voices of reason, and why don't the people of this country care about what' being done in their name? That's even more embarrassing than last nights ABC debacle. We need to get out of Iraq. Tell them we'll come back to pick up the pieces if they can't live with themselves. We could provide for those that want to live in security and let those that want to relive ancient animosities have at each other. They will call us back, but if and when we do, it must be as peacekeepers in coordination with the UN and arab and muslim entities. NO MORE OCCUPATION/NO MORE OIL COMPANY FAVORS

That's what we need to remember with McLamebrain. He's getting a great head start, moving to the middle, working his 'maverick' image. He thinks the voters won't remember that he's been on board with the administration on every vote they needed him for. He's come full cycle with the religious fanatics that soiled him over Bush. He says that he's been speaking out on the administration's 'handling' of the war. BS. The only thing he's criticised is that there weren't enough troops. Hell he still can't muster the guts to call the whole thing an ill concieved adventure that should have never been undertaken. He's as right wing as there is. The only maverick in him is an impersonation.

They have been told so many times that there's nothing they can do, that change is impossible, that they have given up. They are just trying to work and keep their lives together. They think if they try to get involved to change things, they will just get their hearts broken. They have seen that there does not seem to be any effective way to have their voice heard.
That is also why the elite work so hard to make sure we are numb and cynical. Can't be havin' any hope, or we just might get involved.
